Hello my relatives and my people. My name is Rachelle Lane. I am owner and founder of Sage Lady Trading Co. I am Towering House clan. I am born for the Red Bottom clan. Honeycomb Rock/Cliff Dwellers people are my maternal grandfathers. Rock Gap people are my paternal grandfathers.
This introduction has been a long time forthcoming. I apologize for the delay. For my non-Navajo readers, the above paragraph is how I introduce myself in Navajo. I’m Navajo and those are my four clans. Introducing ourselves in this way lets others know who we are, where we come from, and to establish kinship.
Starting my blog has been a project sitting on the back burner for quite some time. I woke up today and decided today was the day that I would get my introduction posted. Why today? Well, I’ve been doing a lot of writing for my job lately, nothing very exciting by any means, memos, announcements, and project updates. In the midst of all the writing I’ve been doing for my job, I realized, I really love writing! So, here I am, coffee by my side sitting on the bed with my laptop completing my first blog post. Blog post goal, check.
My hopes for this blog are to share topics and information that have significance to me such as my interests, information about my products, small business, and heritage topics. All of which I hope will add value to my community.
I’m not sure what the frequency of my posts will be just yet. As I mentioned above, I have a full-time day job and this small business on the side. I’m also mom to one young adult and one preteen, so, I’m very pressed for time (which a lot of us are, I’m sure).
